Restore Justice will hold a vigil to protest the scheduled execution by Ohio of Jonnie Baston. He is scheduled to be executed on Thurs. morning Mar. 10th. The vigil will be held at the Athens County Courthouse on Wed. Mar 9th from 6 to 7 pm. We have much compassion and sympathy for the family and loved ones of the victim, Chong Mah, but feel that is no reason for the state to execute Jonnie Baston. We feel that all executions are murder and should be stopped immediately.

The Toledo Coalition Against the Death Penalty will stand vigil on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:00 A.M. at the corner of Erie and Adams Sts. in Toledo, Oh.We remember the victim Chong Hoon Mah and his family, and we are saddened at the killing of Johnnie Baston.
On March 10 Johnny Baston will be executed by the state of Ohio and Governor Kasich. He was a Toldeo resident and a great deal of publicity will be focused on this execution. The family of Baston's victim, Chong Hoon Mah, has requested that his sentence be changed to life in prison without parole. That sentence was not an option back in 1994 when the murder occured. Despite the family's request, the state is going ahead with the execution. Please join The Toledo Coalition Against The Death Penalty and let Toledo, Ohio, and the nation know that many oppose the death penalty. We will hold a silent vigil for Johnny Baston and remember Chong Hoon Mah in front of the Lucas County Court House on March 10 from 9:30 to 10 AM. Baston will be the first in the nation to be executed with the use of only one drug. This is very controversial, and the rest of the country will be watching. PLEASE SHOW YOUR OPPOSITION TO THE DEATH PENALTY.

Message from IJPC and OTSE groups
Governor Kasich has denied clemency for Johnny Baston. We expect the execution to take place as scheduled at 10:00AM this Thursday, March 10. The prayer service for Johnnie, his family, the family of Chong Mah, and everyone who is part of the execution will be on Tuesday evening, March 8, at 7:00 at Peaslee Neighborhood Center. Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and many churches have services that evening so we changed the regular place.
The March meeting of OTSE will be immediately after the prayer service at Peaslee. With executions scheduled through February of 2012, we have much work to do. Please plan to come to the meeting.
The carpool to Lucasville for the prayer witness during the execution of Johnnie Baston will leave Peaslee at 6:30 on Thursday morning. Please call 513-579-8547 to reserve yoyur spot.
