L.O.O.P (Loved Ones Of Prisoners) is calling for at rally at the Trumbull County Courthouse at 9:30 on Thursday, Feb. 4, to protest the scheduled execution of Mark Brown of Akron.
Mr. Brown has always maintained that he did not commit the murder for which he is to be executed. The rally is being held at the Trumbull County Courthouse because this is where he was convicted and sentenced. The courthouse is at 161 High St., Warren, OH 44481. To get to the courthouse, get off the Ohio Turnpike at the exit for Rt. 5 East. Stay on Rt. 5 until Market St, which is a right turn. Take Market St. to Courthouse Square. The rally will be at the northeast corner of the Square.
If you are interested in a ride to Warren, they will leave at 8:00 am. Please send me your contact information in a private message and I will forward it to the person coordinating the rides.

Restore Justice will hold a vigil to protest the scheduled execution by Ohio of Mark Brown. He is scheduled to be executed on Thursday morning Feb.4th for the deaths of Isam Salman and Hayder Al-Turk from Youngstown.
The vigil will be held at the Athens County Courthouse on Wed. Feb. 3rd from 6 to 7 pm. We have much compassion and sympathy for the families and loved ones of the victims but feel that is no reason for the state to execute Mark Brown. We feel that all executions are murder and should be stopped immediately.
If you have questions please send me a private message with the subject line "restore justice / mark brown" along with your contact information so I can forward your questions to the appropriate person.

There will be a prayer service for Mark Brown held: When: Wednesday, February 3rd at 7 p.m. Where: Holy Name 2448 Auburn Avenue Cincinnati, OH 45219 His execution date is the following day, Thursday, February 4th, where there will be a vigil in Lucasville. A carpool will leave Peaslee Neighborhood Center, 215 East 14th St., at 6:30 a.m. Please make phone calls to the Governor Strickland’s office (614) 466-3555 to ask him to commute Mark Brown’s sentence. Some specific talking points to say when calling could include: A key prosecution witness (Myzell Arrington) admitted that he lied during the trial (because he believed he was going to be charged with complicity to the murder and also thought he would receive leniency regarding other crimes he committed), further providing evidence that shows Mark Brown did not shoot one of the victims. Brown says two witnesses can show that while he shot the store owner in a 1994 double slaying in Youngstown, he didn't shoot a clerk also killed that night. -This is significant because Brown was sentenced to death for killing two or more people at the same time. The prosecution did not call two eyewitnesses who contradicted the prosecutor’s theory of the case. The elected prosecutor, during the time of trial, was known to have accepted bribes and fixed cases, and was ultimately sentenced to prison for his corruption. Mark Brown was represented by ineffective counsel during his trial and appeals. . Mark Brown has had nearly perfect behavior in prison.
