Vigil for execution of Michael Benge, Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the corner of Erie and Adams Sts. in Downtown Toledo at 9:30 A.M.

On Wednesday, October 6, 2010 the State of Ohio has scheduled the killing of Michael Benge at 10:00 A.M. When do we say "Enough killing"?

The Toledo Coalition Against the Death Penalty (TolCaDP) will once again stand vigil at 9:30 A.M. on the corner of Erie and Adams Sts. in Downtown Toledo. As is our custom we call for the end of Killing.

We have compassion and sympathy for the family of Judy Gabbard who was killed and sorrow at her death. We also are saddened at the suffering of the family of Michael Benge. There is an alternative to execution and that is Life Without Parole.

All are welcome to join us. 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 are the corner of Erie and Adams Sts. in Downtown Toledo.

Restore Justice will hold a vigil to protest the scheduled execution by Ohio of Michael Benge.
He is scheduled to be executed on Wednesday morning Oct. 6th. The vigil will be held at the Athens County Courthouse on Tues. Oct. 5th from 6 to 7 pm.
We have much compassion and sympathy for the family and loved ones of the victim, Judith Gabbard, but feel that is no reason for the state to execute Michael Benge. We feel that all executions are murder and should be stopped immediately.

Michael Benge is scheduled to be executed by the State of Ohio this Wednesday, October 6, 2010.
He confessed to killing his girlfriend, Judy Gabbard, on January 31, 1993 and has expressed remorse.
The parole board recommended 9-0 that his execution take place. Governor Strickland has not yet announced his decision.

The following plans have been made around the possible execution:

Tuesday, October 5 7:00 pm Prayer for Michael, his family, Judy, her family, the governor and everyone connected to the execution will be at Holy Name Church, 2448 Auburn Ave., Cincinnati 45219.

Wednesday, October 6 6:30 am Carpool leaves from Peaslee Neighborhood Center, 215 E. 14th Street, Cincinnati going to Southern Ohio Correctional Facility near Lucasville (site of the execution)
8:45 --- vigil outside the penitentiary
return to Cincinnati approx. 1:30
